| गुजरात में होगी दुनिया की सबसे ऊंची मूर्ति Posted: 31 Oct 2010 02:12 AM PDT आज सरदार पटेल जयंती है। वास्तव में यह हमारे देश के लिए देवीय आशीर्वाद था कि स्वतंत्रता के समय एक राज नेता और सरकार के सदस्य के रुप में वल्ल्भभाई पटेल जैसा महामानव हमारे पास था।
अगस्त 1947 चुनौती भरा महीना था। एक ओर सदियों की दासता से मुक्त होकर भारत माता स्वतंत्र हुई थी लेकिन यह खुशी खूनी विभाजन की त्रासदी से ग्रसित हो गई और लाखों लोगों को अपने परिवारों और घरों से विस्थापित होना पड़ा।
सरदार पटेल ने पण्डित नेहरु के मंत्रिमण्डल में अगस्त, 1947 में उप-प्रधानमंत्री और गृहमंत्री के रुप में दायित्व संभाला। लेकिन उनका कुशल और निपुण नेतृत्व देश को साढे तीन वर्षों से भी कम समय मिला। दिसम्बर, 1950 में उनका निधन हो गया। परन्तु फिर भी जितना काम वह निपटा सके वह अपने आप में अद्भुत था। जैसाकि सरदार पटेल के घनिष्ठ सहयोगी वी.पी. मेनन ने अपनी पुस्तक इण्टीगरेशन ऑफ द इण्डियन स्टेट में लिखा है:
”(भारत), अपनी सीमांओं के भीतर 554 देशी रियासतों की अनसुलझी सर्वाधिक बड़ी समस्या का सामना कर रहा था। ब्रिटिश सरकार ने घोषित कर दिया था कि उनके जाने के बाद ये राज्य स्वतंत्र हो जाएंगे। सर्वत्र यह आशंका थी कि क्या देश इसी के चलते टुकड़ों में बट जाएगा।”
वी.पी. मेनन की जिस पुस्तक से उपरोक्त अनुच्छेद उद्दृत किया गया है उसी में लेखक पर एक विस्तृत आलेख ”वी.पी.मेनन: एन अपरिसिएशन” शीर्षक से समाहित हैं। यह प्रसिध्द पत्रकार एम.वी. कामथ द्वारा लिखा गया है। इसमें वह लिखते हैं :
”ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि ब्रिटिश के अंतर्गत भी भारत एक एकक राजनीतिक ईकाई नहीं था। देश दो विभिन्न भागों में विभक्त था: एक ब्रिटिश भारत; दूसरा रजवाड़ों का भारत; यद्यपि यह अंग्रजों को सर्वोच्च अधिकार समपन्न शक्ति मानता था।
राजकुमार अपनी गद्दी अधिकार के रुप में वसीयत में नहीं अपितु इस महत्वपूर्ण शक्ति से तोहफे के रुप में पाते थे।”
यह सर्वोच्च अधिकार सम्पन्नता तब समाप्त होने वाली थी जब ब्रिटिश भारत छोड़ने वाले थे। उस मोड़ पर वह ऐतिहासिक समय था जब पहली बार भारत को एक छाते के नीचे पूरी तरह एक करने, पूर्णतया और र्निविवाद रुप से प्रयास किए गए। जिस व्यक्ति ने यह कार्य किया वह सरदार वल्ल्भभाई पटेल थे।”
इस महान आत्मा की स्मृति में गुजरात ने 392 फीट उंची ‘एकता की मूर्ति‘ (Statue of Unity) स्थापित करने कर निर्णय लिया है जोकि पूरी दुनिया में और न्यूयार्क की स्टेच्यू ऑफ लिबर्टी से भी विशालतम होगी।
इस समय गुजरात अपनी स्थापना की 50वीं जयंती मना रहा है। ‘एकता की मूर्ति‘ को स्वर्णिम गुजरात के इस वर्ष में ही स्थापित किया जाएगा। इसके स्थान का चयन मुख्यमंत्री नरेन्द्रभाई मोदी ने नर्मदा बांध से करीब 3.2 किलोमीटर दूर साधुबेट में किया है।
गुजरात में नरेन्द्रभाई के नेतृत्व का एक विशिष्ट गुण है उनकी कल्पनाशीलता। गत् सप्ताह गुजरात के सभी सांसदों और विधायकों ने मुख्यमंत्री आवास पर ‘वांचे गुजरात अभियान‘ शीर्षक वाला स्लाइड शो देखा। यह स्वर्णिम गुजरात के लिए राज्य सरकार के अभिनव कार्यक्रम की नयी अभिव्यक्ति है।
अभियान का उद्देश्य इससे नागरिकों में पढ़ने की आदत डालना और इस ज्ञान की सदी की जरुरत के लिए उन्हें अच्छे ढंग से तैयार करना है।
इस आंदोलन का विस्तार ‘पुस्तक जो मुझे पसंद है‘, सर्वोतम पाठक प्रतियोगिता, पुस्तक मार्च (ग्रंथ यात्रा) इत्यादि पर चर्चाओं के माध्यम से किया जा रहा है। यह कार्यक्रम स्कूल और कॉलेजों में संचालित किए जाएंगे। राज्य के 26 जिलों और 8 नगर निगमो में समितियों का गठन कर दिया गया है जिसमें शिक्षकों, प्राध्यापकों, लेखकों और अन्य विद्वानों को सदस्य बनने के लिए आमंत्रित किया जा रहा है। 30-40 सदस्यों वाली एक समिति है जिसमें स्कूल प्रधानाचार्य, कॉलेज प्रधानाचार्य, सचिवों और प्रसिध्द लेखकों इत्यादि को शामिल किया गया है। मुख्यमंत्री इसके प्रमुख हैं और उप-प्रमुख शिक्षा मंत्री। इस पहल को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए वर्तमान में 54 स्वयंसेवी संस्थाएं गुजरात सरकार के भागीदार बने हैं।
‘तैरती पुस्तक‘ के नाम से एक नये विचार की पहल की गई है। लोगों से एक पुस्तक खरीदने, उसे पढ़ने और उस पर अपना नाम लिखकर दूसरों को आगे देने के लिए कहा गया है। जैसे ही पुस्तक 12 व्यक्तियों द्वारा पढ़ ली जाएगी तो उसे पुस्तकालय को दे दिया जाएगा जो इसे ‘तैरती पुस्तक‘ के रुप में वर्णित करेंगे। इसके शुरु होने से लेकर अभी तक करीब 50000 तैरती पुस्तकें (Floating Books) दान कर दी गई है।
नए सामुदायिक पुस्तकालय स्थापित किए गए हैं। इस अभियान के हिस्से के रुप में पुराने और बन्द पड़े पुस्तकालयों को पुनर्जीवित किया गया है और वर्तमान पुस्तकालयों को मजबूत बनाया जा रहा है। संभवतया पहली बार स्कूलों में विद्यार्थियों को इस दीवाली के अवकाश के दौरान पुस्तक लेने की अनुमति दी जाएगी। अधिक से अधिक नागरिकों को अपने घरों में ग्रंथ मंदिर (पुस्तकालय) विकसित करने को प्रोत्साहित किया गया है।

| GUJARAT TO HAVE TALLEST STATUE IN THE WORLD Posted: 30 Oct 2010 10:54 PM PDT Today is Sardar Patel Jayanti. It has really been a Divine Blessing for our country that we had with us at the time of independence both as leader and as part of our government a super human being like Vallabhbhai Patel.
August 1947 was a challenging month. While it heralded the liberation of Mother India after centuries of thralldom, the joy of freedom was eclipsed by the trauma of a bloody partition, and the uprooting of millions from their hearths and homes.
Sardar Patel assumed office in Pandit Nehru's cabinet as Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister in August 1947. But his stewardship was available to the country for less than three and a half years. He passed away in December, 1950. And yet the amount of work he was able to discharge was really phenomenal. As V.P. Menon, Sardar Patel's outstanding colleague, writes in his book, Integration of the Indian States :
"One of the largest unresolved problems facing it (India) was the presence of 554 Princely States within its boundaries. The British Government had announced that with their departure these States would become independent. It was widely feared that the new Dominion would break up on this account."
V.P. Menon's above quoted book carries an elaborate write up on the author titled "V.P. Menon: An Appreciation". This has been written by eminent journalist M.V. Kamath. In this he observes :
"Let us note that even under the British, India was not a single political unit. The country was divided into two distinct parts: one was British India; the other was princely India, though the latter acknowledged Britain as the paramount power.
The prince did not inherit his gaddi as of right but rather as a gift from the paramount power".
"This paramountcy was to lapse when the British left India. It was at that point in historic time that efforts were first made to unite India fully, completely and indisputably under one umbrella. The man who engineered this was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel".
In memory of this great soul Gujarat has planned to raise a Statue of Unity, 392 feet tall, which may make it the tallest statue in the world, larger than New York's Statue of Liberty. Gujarat is presently observing the 50th anniversary of its formation. This statue of unity is being installed as part of works being undertaken in this year of Swarnim Gujarat. The site chosen by Chief Minister Narendra Bhai Modi for this monument is Sadhu Bet, about 3.2 Kilometers from Narmada Dam.
One of the distinctive traits of Narendra Bhai's leadership in Gujarat has been his imaginativeness. Last week, all MPs and MLAs from Gujarat witnessed at the C.M. residence a slide presentation titled 'Vaanche Gujarat Abhiyan' ('Gujarat reads' campaign). This is a new facet of the State Government's innovative programmes for Swarnim Gujarat.
The abhiyan aims at preparing its citizens to cultivate reading habits and become better equipped for the needs of this knowledge century.
The movement is spreading by means of Talks on 'The book I like', Best reader Competition, Book Marches (Granth Yatra) etc. These programmes are being conducted across schools and colleges. In the 26 districts of the state and 8 municipal corporations, committees have been formed by inviting teachers, professors, writers and other academicians to join them. There are 34 committees with 30-40 members in each who have taken upon themselves to take this movement to the grassroots. There is also a central committee consisting of 143 members, composed of school principals, college principal, secretaries, prominent writers etc. headed by the CM and vice-chaired by the Education Minister. 54 NGOs are currently partnering with the Government of Gujarat to take this initiative further.
A new idea initiated is that of Tairta Pustak (Floating books). People are asked to buy a book, read it, put his name down on it and circulate it to others (like a chain letter). Once the book has been read by 12 persons, it can be donated to a library which labels it as a 'Floating book'. Since the initiation of this practice, some 50000 floating books have been donated.
New community libraries are being established. Age old and closed libraries are being revived and the existing libraries are being strengthened as part of this campaign.In schools, students, perhaps for the first time will be allowed to borrow books from the library during this Diwali vacation. More and more citizens are being encouraged to develop Granth Mandirs (libraries) in their own homes.
